Dues increase passed
Posted on Mar 24th, 2017
Almost 75% of the neighborhood cast a vote regarding our dues increase! It is encouraging to see so many neighbors making their voices heard and sharing their thoughts about our neighborhood and our future. It was also fantastic to meet some new and old neighbors today at the clubhouse for the first time.

Please contact Cobb Commissioner Ott (our current commissioner) and JoAnn Birrell (our previous commissioner who helped us get a sidewalk connecting Timber Ridge with Lower Roswell) by email or phone to tell them to support keeping the East Cobb Library at Parkaire.
Note that it is only 3 miles from the Switzer main library (266 Roswell St, Marietta 30060) to the location of the new Sewell Mill (formerly East Marietta) library under construction (2051 Lower Roswell Rd, Marietta 30068), but these 2 locations were not consolidated (note JoAnn’s comment in article below).
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 2017-08-27 COBB Residents oppose possible library closing
As a way to save money, Cobb Commissioner JoAnn Birrell has suggested closing East Cobb Library, 4880 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta. In an Aug. 22 statement, Birrell recalled the library system’s history, saying “consolidation of our libraries has been a plan for years.” Now the Sewell Mill Library and Cultural Arts Center, formerly the East Marietta Library, is under construction about five miles from the leased space for the East Cobb Library although the library is the second busiest in the county.
There are also two regional libraries within a seven-mile radius of East Cobb Library, Birrell noted. “To own one space and lease another that duplicates services within five miles of each other is not being a good steward of taxpayer monies,” Birrell said. Birrell also is suggesting a transition time of six months to one year before closing the East Cobb Library.
So far, about 1,300 people have signed a petition at change.org, requesting the commissioners keep open the East Cobb Library. Danielle Zhao, the petition’s organizer, said this library had nearly 250,000 visits and 350,000 checked-out items in 2016.
